Tree Planting

Today at the woods our volunteers and committee members planted trees to further increase the biodiversity of this wild space. In order for wildlife to thrive in urban areas, wild space is extremely important to provide them with the necessities to survive, such as food, rest, and reproduction.

The Black Poplar plantings were also a sentimental touch to many of us here at Stepping Stones, as they were planted in the loving memory of Len, a key founder in the creation of this charity.

Snow at Stepping Stones

Back in February 2021 we were blessed with snow after four long years. Very rarely do our climates reach a cold enough temperature to hold snow due to the increasing danger of climate change. We hope to see more in the future as experts tackle this issue.

Work Party 10.2020

During this party committee members and volunteers dug up an area for wild flower seeds to be laid. Due to the land being left unattended and unmanaged for a substantial amount of time, a lot of effort was required to remove foreign objects from the soil. Such as polytunnel plastic, fiberous clothing and other odd objects. The land is now ready for spring sowing. We opted for a wild flower pack which self seeds, to allow the land to manage itself and restore it back to its natural function.
